Low Testosterone (TRT)

Testosterone replacement therapy that restores healthy hormone levels: improving energy, libido, mood, sleep, strength and body composition.

A man's testosterone production begins declining in his thirties, at roughly 1% per year. For many men that decline is unremarkable. For others it produces a cluster of symptoms that quietly reshapes their life, and that they're told is just "getting older."

It isn't. Low testosterone can be identified with a straightforward blood test, and it can be treated.

Symptoms of low T

  • Loss of energy and persistent fatigue
  • Reduced libido and difficulty with erections
  • Increased body fat, especially around the abdomen
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength despite training
  • Memory changes, brain fog, poor concentration
  • Inconsistent, unrefreshing sleep
  • Low mood, irritability, loss of drive and confidence
  • Reduced body hair, and in some cases hot flashes

Whether the signs are modest or severe, they don't resolve on their own if the underlying cause is untreated.

Getting the diagnosis right

Testosterone follows a daily rhythm and is highest in the morning, so timing of the draw matters. We measure total and free testosterone: free testosterone is the biologically active portion, and a man can have a "normal" total with a genuinely low free level. We also check estradiol, and screen for other causes of the same symptom picture: thyroid disease, sleep apnea, depression, anemia, and medication effects.

We won't put you on therapy you don't need. Sometimes the answer is a CPAP, not a syringe.

Treatment

Once low testosterone is confirmed, several delivery methods are available:

  • Injections: the most common and most cost-effective, typically weekly
  • Topical creams and gels: daily application, steady levels, with transfer precautions
  • Pellets: implanted every few months, convenient, less adjustable

We'll walk you through the trade-offs of each rather than defaulting to one.

What improves, and when

Sleep and mood often shift within the first few weeks. Libido and energy usually follow within one to two months. Body composition changes accumulate over three to six months, and depend heavily on what you're doing in the gym and kitchen alongside therapy.

What we make sure you understand first

Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production and reduce fertility. It requires ongoing monitoring of red blood cell count, estradiol and prostate markers. It isn't appropriate for every man. These are conversations we have before you start, not after.

If you're showing symptoms of low T, schedule a visit. The test is simple, and the answer is worth having.
